A little more DC

Today (July 3, 2019) we played it a little more low key.  We visited the Natural Science History Museum and toured Ford's Theater.  We spent over two hours in each and just explored.  We left DC around 5:00 pm today to head back to the hotel and grab dinner.  Tomorrow will be an early day and a late night, so we felt it necessary to tr to get more rest tonight.

Farrell fellas and Mom take on DC

After dropping the girls off at EFY on Monday, July 1st, our little boys’ getaway (with mom) began.  Our first attraction in the DC area was the Arlington National Cemetery. It was very sobering.  Later that evening, we ventured to try to see some of the memorials and were able to view the Washington Monument (it was closed but you can definitely still see it), Lincoln Memorial, World War II Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

On Tuesday, July 1st, we walked and walked and walked, literally walking twelve miles. We were caught up in two rain storms but had a really good day. We were able to visit the National Archives Museum, the National Gallery of Art, the Holocaust Memorial Museum (very powerful), National Air and Space Museum, Jefferson Memorial (and watch a concert by the Marines), George Mason Memorial, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, and Martin Luther King Jr Memorial. The Archives were incredible to see first-hand the Constitution, Bill or Rights, and the Declaration of Independence, along with numerous other artifacts. The Holocaust was almost more than I could bear- it was such a shame and sad part in history.  The quotes at Roosevelt and King were very inspirational and I enjoyed reading them. It was an exhausting but good day.

Home for a limited amount of time

Our summer this year seems to be back to back traveling, but we are not complaining.
We drove to Paris to see Sandra on June 23rd. It was a nice visit.  The girls and I went with some ladies at church to see a lady we minister to in Hair Spray and on a random note, I decided to make some cups to have around for gifts.
We watched Charity's kids each day the week after we were home for her to work and pack her house.  Jake began covering our back patio in hopes to transform it into an outdoor kitchen one day. Ginny had her senior pictures taken Tuesday, June 25th (how is she already a senior) and then on Sunday June 30th, we left to take the girls to EFY in Buena Vista, VA at Southern Virginia University.  Jake, the boys, and I are spending the week in DC as they are at EFY but I feel bad they are not here with use.
